Were The Big Brother 7 All-Stars Twenty Revealed In A Commercial?

"With American Idol winding down, reality TV fan thoughts are turning to their favorite Summer reality show: Big Brother. CBS officially announced a couple weeks ago that Big Brother 7 would be the long awaited All-Stars edition. The initial CBS press release also sprung the additional surprise that America would help choose who will participate in the game from among a pool of twenty of their favorite former houseguests from all six seasons.

Ever since this announcement speculation has been running rampant on who would make the pool of twenty, when the twenty would be revealed, and how viewers would vote for their favorites. A post on the Big Brother 7 section of the CBS website has now answered some but not all of those questions.

The top twenty candidates from previous Big Brother seasons will be revealed by Julie Chen on Wednesday, June 21 at 8PM ET/PT. Web voting will open after candidates are revealed starting at midnight ET/9PM PT. The polls will close on Wednesday, June 28 at 11:59PM ET/8:59PM PT. According to the CBS website, all twenty candidates will be present when Julie Chen announces the All-Stars houseguests on the Big Brother 7 season premiere, Thursday, July 6 at 8PM ET/PT, so fans will get to see the reaction of those who don’t make the cut.

During the Survivor Panama finale, a Big Brother All-Stars commercial ran that showed several former Big Brother houseguests. The commercial moved very quickly and some of the images were blurry, so this might not be 100% accurate, but we jotted down some of the houseguests that we could make out in the commercial. We think we made out the following houseguests as being featured in the commercial..."

CBS Announces Voting Procedures For All-Star

This season of Big Brother will be an All Stars season. After 6 regular seasons of the American version of the ‘Big Brother’ show, Season 7 will return this July with 20 houseguests from previous seasons and then America will vote to determine which of the 20 will return to the Big Brother House.

The CBS Big Br other Season 7 website is officially up and running. The site will eventually include a list of the houseguests, a layout of the house and other show information including the Head of Household’s Revenge of the Blog entry. Right now it just has news about the upcoming season which includes this recent announcement:

"For the first time in BIG BROTHER history worldwide, viewers will vote on which former HouseGuests will compete in BIG BROTHER 7: ALL-STARS. On CBS Wednesday, June 21 at 8PM ET/PT, Julie Chen will unveil the top 20 candidates from seasons past. Web voting opens right here after the show at midnight ET/9PM PT. As usual, the contestants will enter the house several days prior to the broadcast, which will also mark the start of live streaming through the internet.Episodes will air on CBS Saturdays at 9pm and Tuesdays at 8pm, with live evictions on Thursdays at 8pm.The seventh season, tagged Big Brother 7: All-Stars, will feature contestants from previous seasons, including some selected by the US public. Audiences Pick the Cast for Big Brother's Return

CBS is planning the seventh season of Big Brother with an all-star edition where the viewers will help cast the show, says Variety.The concept for the audience participation is still being hashed out, but the current plan is for CBS and the producers to select a group of 20 past Big Brother players. Viewers will then get the chance to vote and help select which of those 20 get to move into the Big Brother house in Studio City, CA.

Melissa Brown is betting that Chris Daughtry will be the next American Idol. Literally. She wagered $50 online on the bald aspiring rocker. 'I think it's going to be Chris,' said Brown, 29, a website designer from Braintree, who for the past year has been placing online bets on reality TV shows at betus.com, a sports gambling site better known for taking NFL and college basketball bets. 'If the guys could do sports, I could do entertainment. I bet on what I watch, the reality shows.'

The idea of betting on reality TV takes water-cooler chat to a new level. These viewers are willing to put money on who will sashay down the final runway on UPN's ''America's Next Top Model," walk away with a cushy job for the Donald, or emerge as the next Carrie Underwood. With ''American Idol" clocking its best ratings ever, and reality shows' latest developments serving as conversation starters at work, home, and bars, the trend may have been inevitable..."

"Ex-HG living in LA have been trying out for BB7, or so little birdies have told me. Supposedly Arnold and Allison won't be making a decision on who goes in until May, so we'll see who disappears that month for interviews. But will this season's cast ALL be stars? Maybe we'll see a possible Half-Stars season, with half new and half old. It explains why there are NO open casting calls and the application link was taken off the front page of CBS.com.

Telenovelas, reality and game shows may fill the bill in case of labor lockout

"The specter of a looming strike next year is playing a role in an uptick in the development of inexpensive programming formats, from telenovelas to game shows to reality programs. That's the opinion of several high- level industry executives. “During a strike, they could put on the soaps at 8, reality at 9 and something else like news at 10,” says a top production executive.

Understandably, labor issues are on the minds of many, with the TV and movie pact between the Writers Guild of America (WGA), networks and studios set to expire in November 2007, followed by the Directors Guild of America and Screen Actors Guild (SAG) agreements in summer 2008.

Suddenly, the less expensive programming alternatives are looking very attractive. If the telenovela format, which networks and syndicators are showing increased interest in, works this summer, executives say the networks could use the new programming model along with reality shows ironically, a primary target group of WGA organizers as cheap prime time alternatives if writers stop turning out scripts..."

"...CBS is still riding the wave with Survivor and Amazing Race, both of which have slipped a bit this season but remain powerful forces. The network would also have the option of turning Big Brother, a formidable summer staple since its premiere in 2000, into a regular-season strike-filler."
